Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has requested the Central Government to hold a special session of Parliament to discuss the issue of delimitation and increase in Lok Sabha seats. He said that any change in the number of seats should not reduce the representation of southern states.
Stalin demanded constitutional amendments to ensure that the current share of representation for each state remains the same for the next 30 years. He expressed concern that if seats are increased based only on population, southern states may lose their political strength.
He also said that the Centre should discuss the matter with all states before making any final decision. The delimitation issue has now become an important political topic across the country.
