West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has called for calm as tensions continue in Malda over protests linked to voter list deletions. Demonstrators have blocked key sections of National Highway-12, disrupting movement and raising concerns across the region.
Addressing the situation, Mamata said she was not aware of who was behind the protests and appealed to people to remain peaceful and avoid provocation. She also reacted to reports of judicial officers being surrounded during the unrest, calling the situation serious.
At the same time, the Supreme Court of India strongly condemned attempts to intimidate judicial officials. Supporting the court’s stance, Mamata stated that its observations were justified.
The ongoing protests have heightened political tensions, with authorities closely monitoring developments in West Bengal.
