The Congress party has strongly criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the delay in implementing the women’s reservation law.
Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh demanded that the Prime Minister issue an apology to women across the country, accusing the government of failing to deliver on its commitment.
According to the Congress, the delay reflects a “U-turn” by the government and is an attempt to divert attention from what it called major governance failures and setbacks in foreign policy.
Jairam Ramesh stated that women have been waiting for meaningful political representation, and any delay in implementing the law undermines that promise. He also questioned the government’s intent, alleging that the move lacks seriousness and urgency.
